REVEREND CALVIN J. McFADDEN TO SPEAK AT
B-CC PRESIDENT’S ASSEMBLY
DAYTONA BEACH, FL- Reverend Calvin J. McFadden will serve
as the keynote speaker for the Bethune-Cookman College President’s
Assembly on Wednesday, September 17, 2003 in the Richard V. Moore
Gymnasium at 10:20 a.m.

McFadden
is the pastor and founder of Ray of Hope United Methodist Church in
Tallahassee, Florida. McFadden began his ministry at the tender age
of 15 and pastored his first church at age 18 – St. Joseph United
Methodist Church in Deland, Florida. Later, he was appointed to
Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Palatka, Florida as Pastor. In
1998, McFadden was appointed by the late Bishop Cornelius Linton
Henderson to launch Tallahassee’s first predominantly
African-American United Methodist Church.
A native of Tampa, Florida, McFadden received the bachelor of arts
degree in sociology from Bethune-Cookman College and the master of
divinity degree in sociology of religion from the
Interdenominational Theological Center, Gammon Seminary, in Atlanta,
Georgia. He is currently a doctoral student at Florida State
University.
Reverend McFadden has received numerous honors and awards including
being listed in Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities and the
Order of the Flame, World Evangelism-Methodist Council award.
McFadden is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity,
Incorporated. He is married to Jamina Scippio-McFadden, a professor
at Florida A&M University.
In addition to Reverend McFadden’s address, the
program will include musical selection by the B-CC Concert Chorale,
the B-CC Gospel Choir and the B-CC Jazz Ensemble.
The public is invited to attend.
Bethune-Cookman
