B-CC TRUSTEES TO SELECT NEW PRESIDENT

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. Bethune-Cookman College trustees will meet in Daytona Beach Monday, November 3, to select a new president for the nearly 100-year old school.

Trustees have narrowed the field of potential presidential candidates down to three.  Each candidate has visited the campus of the college in the last two months, meeting with small groups of students, faculty, administrators, community leaders, and some alumni.

The candidates are:

•Dr. Gloria Bromell-Tinubu, an economics professor at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Cooperative Development Board, a non profit agency that plans and sponsors cooperatively owned housing and businesses.

•Dr. Henry Lewis III, dean of the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, Tallahassee, FL.

•Dr. Marvin L. Yates, vice president of programs at the United Negro College Fund.

B-CC President Dr. Oswald P. Bronson, Sr. will retire June 30, 2004.

A media conference convened by the trustees to announce their selection for president is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the East Conference Room of the Carl Swisher Library.

Note: Please contact the B-CC Office of Public Relations Monday afternoon to confirm the time and location of the media conference. Thank you.
