B-CC TRUSTEES TO SELECT NEW PRESIDENT
DAYTONA
BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman College trustees will
meet in Daytona Beach Monday, November 3, to select a new president
for the nearly 100-year old school.
Trustees have narrowed the field of potential
presidential candidates down to three.
Each candidate has visited the campus of the college in the
last two months, meeting with small groups of students, faculty,
administrators, community leaders, and some alumni.
The candidates are:
•Dr. Gloria Bromell-Tinubu, an economics
professor at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, and chief executive
officer of the Atlanta Cooperative Development Board, a non profit
agency that plans and sponsors cooperatively owned housing and
businesses.
•Dr. Henry Lewis III, dean of the College of
Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Florida Agricultural &
Mechanical University, Tallahassee, FL.
•Dr. Marvin L. Yates, vice president of
programs at the United Negro College Fund.
B-CC President Dr. Oswald P. Bronson, Sr. will
retire June 30, 2004.
A media conference convened by the trustees to
announce their selection for president is scheduled at 6:30 p.m.
Monday in the East Conference Room of the Carl Swisher Library.
