BETHUNE-COOKMAN COLLEGE TO HOST INTERNET2 DAY

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA- Bethune-Cookman College in conjunction with Embry-Riddle University Aeronautical University will host an Internet2 Day on Tuesday, November 11, from 8 am to 12:30 p.m. in the Willie Miller Instructional Center located on the ERAU campus.

Internet2 is a higher education consortium that runs an advanced online research network. B-CC and ERAU were awarded a national grant from the National Science Foundation that took effect January of 2003 that would allow both institutions to join 205 other universities in partnership with government and industry.

The goal of Internet2 is to recreate the partnership among academia, industry and government that developed today´s Internet in its early stages. This event will advertise the new Internet2 connection and generate a broader user base on campus, as well as help create interest among potential applications developers.

This event is free and open to the general public. For more information, please contact Beth Cox, technical writer and budget manager for the Center for Information of Technology at B-CC at 386-481-2074.

Bethune-Cookman is a comprehensive college, which offers degrees in liberal arts as well as professional fields, such as business, education and nursing. A United Methodist Church-affiliated school, the college has a diverse and international student population of more than 2,500 and a solid reputation for academic excellence. As evidence of its outstanding program, the College has been listed in the Templeton Honor Roll of Character Building Colleges and Universities, and it was ranked by Black Enterprise magazine as one of the “Top 50” schools in the nation for black students.
