THE REVEREND CHARLES E. BOOTH TO SPEAK AT B-CC MINISTERIAL
CONFERENCE
DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – The Reverend
Dr. Charles E. Booth, of Columbus, Ohio, will be one of the
presiding preachers of Bethune-Cookman College’s Ministerial
Conference January 20 – 23, 2004. The conference will feature
nationally known preachers, teachers and Christian leaders as
presenters.
Dr. Booth, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, was
called to become the senior pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in
1978, where he has been pasturing for the last twenty-five years.
A graduate of Howard University, Dr. Booth
earned his Master of Divinity Degree from Eastern Theological
Seminary, and his Doctor of Ministry from United Theological
Seminary.
Dr. Booth has also been listed in “Who’s
Who Among African-American’s and on Ebony Magazine’s Honor Roll
of Preachers for his many title’s, accomplishment’s and services
to the community. He has served as Professor of Preaching at Trinity
Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio; Vice President of the
Millennium Association of Pastors; Guest lecturer in Biblical
Hermeneutics at Hampton’s Minister Conference; Guest preacher to
enlisted service persons and their families in Kaiserlauten,
Germany; North American Preacher, Baptist World Youth Conference in
Buenos Aires, Argentina; and the Baccalaureate Preacher at Lincoln
University, Morehouse College and Howard University School of Law.
Since becoming senior pastor at Mt. Olive
Baptist Dr. Booth founded the Gloria S. Friend (GSF) Christian
Academy, which opened its door in September 1993. The fully
accredited GSF Academy currently host grades kindergarten through
fifth grade. The curriculum stresses excellence in academics,
African-American History and Christian education.
Dr. Booth will be speaking on Homiletics
at the morning plenary at 10:30 am on both Wednesday January 21st,
and Thursday January 22nd.
Bethune-Cookman
is a comprehensive college, which offers degrees in liberal arts as well
as professional fields, such as business, education and nursing. A
United Methodist Church-affiliated school, the college has a diverse
and international student population of more than 2,500 and a solid
reputation for academic excellence. As evidence of its outstanding
