SOCIOLOGY HONOR SOCIETY CHARTERS B-CC CHAPTER

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Eight Bethune-Cookman College sociology majors and one faculty member recently became charter members of the Mu Chapter of Florida of Alpha Kappa Delta, an international sociology honor society.

Alpha Kappa Delta

Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) is a premiere honor society in sociology that focuses on stimulating scholarship and promoting the scientific study of society. It has over 80,000 scholars in more than 490 chapters nationally and internationally, including 23 Historically Black Colleges and Universities and 11 Florida colleges and universities.

B-CC’s chapter of AKD is the first at a Florida HBCU. Inductees include:

The chapter advisor is Dr. Janice Allen-Kelsey. Dr. Allen-Kelsey and Dr. John Ukawuilulu are AKD members previously inducted at the University of Florida and Howard University, respectively. Both are faculty in the School of Social Sciences and the Department of Sociology and Gerontology.
