``HE WHO FINDS A WIFE” TO BE PRESENTED AT PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. --Bethune-Cookman
College faculty member Jontoinette White presents the encore
performance of her comedy stage play He Who Finds a Wife on
Saturday, April 10th
at the Mary McLeod Bethune Performing Arts Center.
Showtime is 7 p.m.
After the sudden death of his wife, Pastor
Melvin Jones (portrayed by Cornell Mack) finds himself surrounded by
women who believe they are supposed to be the next First Lady of New
Life in Christ Missionary Baptist Church.
Will they succeed? Not if Adelene Hawkins (portrayed by
Brenda Weathers), the church secretary for eighteen years, can help
it! In a secret prayer meeting, she receives a strange prophecy
about her future husband, and she devises a wild scheme to get her
man.
White, an English
professor in B-CC’s General Studies Division, has authored several
comedies. Her other plays include the following:
Who Do You Roll With?, which explores peer pressure
among black adolescents, Someone
to Love Me depicts the rigors of college life, and
Seeds At the Gate takes a comedic look at complex
marital relationships.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $17 at the door and
can be purchased at the Bethune-Cookman College cashier’s office,
Family Bookstore at 1808 International Speedway Blvd, or Divine
