ASSOCIATE TRUSTEES RAISE $86,000 FOR RICHARD V. MOORE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP (See Photo Gallery)

Associate Trustee Chairman Rev. Calvin McFadden and B-CC President Dr. Oswald P. Bronson Sr. hold the check while campaign chairman Dr. James E. Huger makes remarks.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Bethune-Cookman College Associate Board of Trustees concluded an ambitious endowed scholarship campaign honoring the memory of Dr. Richard V. Moore on Saturday, May 1 with a check presentation of $86,000 in a ceremony held at the gravesite of the College’s third president on the B-CC Campus.

The four-year campaign raised $190,000.

“We feel that this scholarship campaign is a fitting tribute to Dr. Moore’s life of service,’’ said Dr. James E. Huger, Sr., campaign chairman. “He will forever be remembered as man of all seasons.”

In addition to the check presentation, a granite marker bearing the names of all those who contributed to the campaign was unveiled.

“If it weren’t for Dr. Moore, I would not be president of Bethune-Cookman College,’’ said Dr. Oswald P. Bronson, Sr. who received his bachelor’s degree from Dr. Moore and was hand-picked to succeed him in 1975.  “I will always be grateful to him as we all shall be.”
