BETHUNE-COOKMAN COLLEGE PREPARES FOR COMMENCEMENT ACTIVITIES
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman
College is preparing for its annual summer commencement activities
June 24-26. With approximately 85 students expected to receive the
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, the commencement
ceremony is scheduled for the Mary McLeod Bethune Performing Arts
Center on Saturday, June 26 at 10 a.m. Dr. Williams S. Barnes senior
pastor of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Windermere, Fl.,
will deliver the keynote address.
This will be the final commencement presided by
College President Dr. Oswald P.
Bronson, Sr., who is slated to retired after 29 of years of service
as the head of his alma mater.
Other events include:
- Thursday,
June 24 -- The Nursing Convocation will begin at 4 p.m. in Heyn
Memorial Chapel.
- Friday,
June 25 -- The Service of Consecration will be held at 7 p.m. in
Heyn Memorial Chapel. Reverend Charles Graham of Allen Chapel in
Daytona Beach will deliver the address.
- Saturday,
June 26 – A wreath laying will take place at College founder
Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune’s gravesite at 7:30 a.m.
- Saturday,
June 26 -- The President
Bronson Scholarship Banquet, honoring Dr. Bronson and College
First Lady Mrs. Helen Williams Bronson, at the Adam’s Mark
Daytona Beach Resort beginning at 6 PM. Tickets are $125 each,
with proceeds endowing the Oswald P. Bronson, Sr. Scholarship
Fund.
- The
Bethune-Cookman College National Alumni Association will hold
its annual convention in Daytona Beach from June 23-27 at the
Plaza Resort and Spa, 600 N. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach. For

Bethune-Cookman
