DR. BRONSON PASSES THE TORCH TO DR. REED

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – In his remarks at a Tuesday press conference announcing the selection of Dr. Trudie Kibbee Reed as the fifth Bethune-Cookman College president, current president Dr. Oswald P. Bronson Sr. “passed the torch of leadership” to Dr. Reed.  

Bronson stated:  “I am very, very pleased to pass the torch of leadership to you, Dr. Reed, for the following reasons:

• You are committed to raise the College to the next level of prominence.
• You are committed to institutional integrity. Your record shows that.
• You bring a spirituality that will further unite us with our United Methodist  relationships and Christianity across the globe. 
• Your commitment to academia will expand our academic programs and raise our level of standards to new heights.
• Your commitment to strengthen community and corporate relationship will bring hope to an improved stature for Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach

"On behalf on the legacy of our founder, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, for whom you have held such high esteem, it is my happy privilege to commend for your selection and your acceptance of this board's selection. I've had 29 years of work at this College and I believe we are poised for true greatness under your leadership."
