Catherine A. Kershaw, Assistant Vice President and Director of Public Relations, graduated from Bethune-Cookman College in 1983.  As chief communications and public relations manager, Ms. Kershaw is involved in policy decisions and is accountable for the College's public relations program and results, and communications between the College and its public.  She is an active member of the FPRA, member of the Counselors Network, and attends numerous seminars, conferences and workshops pertaining to trends and issues in public relations.

Ms. Kershaw is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a past state board officer of the Florida Public Relations Association, lifetime member of the Bethune-Cookman College National Alumni Association, Daytona Beach Advertising Federation, Respect and Unity Group, Kiwanis, Executive Women's Council, and a volunteer mentor in the Volusia County public schools.

Mr. Ryan

Dan Ryan serves as a public relations specialist for Bethune-Cookman College. 

It marks a return to the campus for Ryan, a former B-CC student and the Assistant Sports Information Director from 1991-1994. Ryan comes back to B-CC after six years at the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, the past three as Director of Internet Services. He oversaw the development and day-to-day operations of DaytonaBeach.com, the area’s official visitor information site that garnered an International Web Page Award creative excellence distinction as well as being voted one of the nation’s top ten destination websites by e-travelplan.com.

Mr. SchmittBob Schmitt manages the
college's growing web site which has been ranked 4th out 51 historically Black colleges by the Digital Learning Lab of Howard University.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Church Music, a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration, and a Master of Arts degree in Religion. He also holds certifications as a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and a Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS).  He served as a teacher, school principal, pastor, church musician, social worker and administrator of adolescent substance abuse programs before coming to the college.

Mr. Schmitt joined the Public Relations team after serving for five years in the Center for Information Technology as the Director of Student Technical Services and Webmaster. He is also an adjunct instructor in the School Humanities.

Mr. ReevesJohn Reeves, the campus photographer and yearbook advisor,  has been employed at Bethune-Cookman College for 21 years.  A native of Daytona Beach, Reeves graduated from Mainland High School and Daytona Beach Community College.  He is a member of New St. James Missionary Baptist Church and enjoys playing basketball and other sports.  As yearbook advisor, Reeves has been able to work with many very talented students.  "I enjoy working with students and seeing them graduate and become productive citizens."

Mrs. Ashley's Picture Is Coming Soon!Cathy Ashley is a native of Florida who joined the B-CC team in 1994.

Her duties include working closely with the Asst. Vice President and Director of Public Relations, the Publications and New Media Specialist, the College Relations Specialist, the Web Specialist, and the Photographer and Yearbook director. Her duties include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Public Relations department which consists of communicating professionally and effectively with the public, news media, vendors, students and colleagues.
