B-CC STUDENT RECEIVES ETHICS IN BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman College student Dennis Errol Pires, a native of Ahmedabad, India currently residing in Port Orange, Fla., has received the 2003-04 Ethics in Business Scholarship from the Florida Independent College Fund (FICF).

Dennis Errol Pires

Scheduled to graduate in December with a degree in Business Administration Management, Pires received $2,600 from FICF, which will be matched by B-CC.

Pires, who carries a 3.74 GPA, is an active member of the student technical assistant team that provides computer support across the campus. He plans to attend graduate school at either the University of Florida or University of Central Florida to earn his MBA.

“I’m grateful for the scholarship and to Dr. Claudette McFadden [B-CC’s Chair of the Speech, Communication and Theatre Arts Department and Director of Sponsored Research] for making it possible for me to obtain it,’’ Pires said. “I’ve chosen business management because the information technology sector has taken a downward slope and there has always been a demand for business majors worldwide.’’

The Ethics In Business Scholarship fund is made possible by interest generated from the State of Florida Ethics In Business account.
